The Clique
The Clique is a 'group' of OWoT users who have invaded the official OWoT Discord server and use their number & recognition by the admins in an attempt to spread views and arbitrary rules onto OWoT. Due to their outlook on opinions other than their own, they are considered an echochamber. They also often fixate on site drama and annoy administrators/moderators about such things until action favorable to them is taken, despite the cause sometimes being up to months old.
Members of the Clique are most often almost exclusively on the OWoT Discord, and do not spend much time on the site. This is because the environment in the OWoT Discord is highly sanitized in comparison.
History
Early Days on OWoT
This time was the original birth of what would be the Clique, with it all being started with user AndreiXYZ, who was a radical left-wing activist and troll. Andrei managed to get on the good side of many of the existing pro-moderation OWoT users & FP. He used his connection with FP to convince him of that he should "moderate" OWoT more. This was only accelerated when PinkiePie first joined OWoT. Over the years, the pro-moderation users would colonize mainly on the OWoT Discord, but it was still not too big of a deal at the time.
Getting Fersny in as an Administrator on the OWoT Discord, and the immediate effects
On May 15 2024, Fernsy would gain mod permissions on the OWoT Discord[1], given by FP. This was followed by a legion of the OWoT Discord userbase being banned for being too edgy or right-wing. This caused a major revolt from the banned users, with them moving to the main site and garnering a hateful opinion on the now vaguely left-wing controlled OWoT Discord. This also led to a majority of pro-censorship users to migrate to almost exclusively use the OWoT Discord instead of spending time on both it and the site. This would begin the transition of the OWoT Discord from just a Discord server for OWoT, to the far-left echochamber that it is today.
The Clique fully forms
As an effect of nearly every edgy user being banned from the OWoT Discord, the community which the admins now mainly saw was full of pro-censorship users who wanted more moderation to be applied onto the site. This immediately started causing issues as FP has said that he works by "The means of the many over the means of the few". And when he only really saw the pro-moderation users, he started giving more of a voice to them. Over time, this caused the communities & cultures of the Discord and site to slowly split apart. Conveniently, this was around the time AndreiXYZ stopped using OWoT actively.
This however, was not enough for the Clique. The Clique also wanted site moderation to be as strict as the Discord's moderation. For the longest time, they did not get this, with FP refusing to ban "toxic" chat users from site chat. This would serve to further culturally sever the site and Discord server.
FP gives up and lets the Clique rule
In April 2026, FP would post a message to the OWoT Discord apologizing for his previous inactivity and refusal to moderate on the site to Discord standards. TBD
